It was called ‘ Juk(bamoo)ryeong(Valley)’ as there were many bamboo trees, but they’ re not many left presently, and now the village is called ‘Jung(middle)ryeong(valley)’.
‘Son Cyu Sang, the leader of Jingakjong of Buddihism, was born in this village, which is located next to Ganryeong village, and there’s Geumgangwon to celebrate his birth.

This name was designated because there was a lot of yellow earth from ancient times, however, it was also called Small Hwangto(yellow earth)gumi as the area is smaller and has less yellow earth that Taeha area.
The village was called Hak(Crane)po as well because there was a rock that looked like a crane. You can feel the unique mood of a small fishing village along with Mongdol(pebbles0 seashore.

This village, located in the south eastern hill of Seomyeon Taehari, was called Seo(West)Deul(Field)Ryeong(Valley) as there were many tombs in the west field, however, the name has changed to Seodal. There’s a phrase ‘Seodal village under the heaven’ frequently spoken by the residents because the village was said to be the closest to the sky in Ulleungdo. You can go hiking to Mireukbong Peak via Seodal village. Mireukbong Teak hiking requires specialist’s guide as it is not a developed and settled route.

This village, located to the north west of Naridong, is called Chusan as there is a mountain resembling a gimlet. You can feel the typical mood of Ulleungdo agricultural village and you can enjoy a superb view of Gongam, Songgotbong Peak and etc.

This village, located in the valley surrounding the sea, was called Dae(bamboo)bau as there’re many bamboo trees and it was named ‘ Juk(bamboo)am(rock), converted to Chinese letters. You can sea-bathe in Jukam Mondol Seaside in front of the village and you and enjoy the mood of a quiet fishing village.
- Take about an hour by bus from Dodong towards Cheonbu and about 15 minutes on foot along the seaside road from Cheonburi.
